Loidys Carnero
The Ligt Chair - Heesterveld 28
2015
Wallpaper, chair
Dimensions variable

Cuban artist Yaima Carrazana presents Maison d'Artiste in collaboration with Loidys Carnero. They are in dialogue with the work of Piet Mondrian, Theo van Doesburg and the Dutch movement De Stijl, founded in 1917. Using appropriation, the works deal with issues of integration and autonomy. Each work is part of an ongoing investigation into an intimate lifestyle.
For the installation: De Ligt chair, Heesterveld 28 the artists move to the gallery space in Geneva the kitchen of their studio apartment in Amsterdam, where they live and work, through a life-size photographic reproduction and a chair designed by Gerrit Rietveld. The chair was built by the artists themselves following a "do-it-yourself" tutorial. Through the simple act of placing a reproduction of the "De Ligt chair” they establish a connection between the functional and the specific context.
Another series of paintings in oil on canvas show compositions in red, yellow, blue, black and gray, mixed with elements that are part of their home environment, such as fruits and houseplants.

Exhibition view: Studio Sandra Recio, Rue du Vieux-Billard 26, 1205 Genève, Zwitserland
