Yaima Carrazana (Santiago de Cuba, 1981) lives and works in Amsterdam. She studied painting at San Alejandro Academy of Fine Arts in Havana. In 2010 she completed two years residency program at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten.

Carrazana began her career making video works, moving freely among various media and formats, such as performance and installation. A common approach in her work is weaving a delicate web of political, cultural and gender-based contexts.

Recently Carrazana has been making abstract paintings to investigate what she calls “the good life” in a foreign country.

Her work has been exhibited in the Kanal-Centre Pompidou, BE, 2020, the 14th Cuenca Biennial, 2018, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, US in 2017, Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Havana, CU in 2014 Wilhelm-HackMuseum.
